Dry Casting Report June 2002

Slipping and sliding across the ice encrusted grass in the early glow of the dawn left me and Willo with a couple of soggy shoes and wet and cold socks.

Watching a weirdo jogging around the oval in shorts and T-shirt dragging a mutt along (which appeared to be busting for a stop) confirmed my belief that such exercise is only for the young.

A hot cup of coffee and a change of footwear had us ready for the day.

As usual the faithful turned up and set about having some fun. With the amount of clanging noises, hoots and hollers, whistles and banter that floated about the poor old targets sure did take hammering.

The Club owns an air conditioned holiday house at Kalbarri which is available for rent to the public and club members at competitive rates

Talk about bullseyes, ....... Ric, George (2), Mal Harris, Terry Fuller, Jim (2) Trevor, AJ and Roy, belted the targets and I've got to mention at least 12 very close near misses. Boy, were the lads running hot.

Newcomers in the ladies section showed great potential and should improve more with future competition. Let's hope we have a good ladies team for the State titles in October.

Well done goes to both Emily and Rhys who still turn up and compete in the sections even though it is by themselves.

The 112 gram event was won by George with cast of 153 metres. The artificial bait event went to Chas with a good cast of 129 metres.

"Roy the Boy" won the double handed event while I jagged the single handed event. Top dog for the day went to "Roy the Boy".

The 112 gram open event was won by George, but a special NASA award goes to Chas for two casts that went ------ and ended up "way over there". Chas calls it his new "thataway" casting style, we call it the "Getouta here - run!!!) style.

Please, no tears just because I won't be here next month (Canning Stock route trip) but I'm sure all will assist Willo with the same co-operation that I get.

P.S. anyone seen that woos (Stokes) about? What, too cold Pete?

Keep it straight and long.

Hendo
